Adoption of Euro by both communities?

''The Euro is the second most important European event to take place in Cyprus after accession. The catalytic role of the European Union in the achievement of the economic and political integration of Cyprus could potentially materialise on the occasion of adopting the Union’s single currency, the final step of economic integration which Europe itself took on its way to its own political integration. Cyprus needs another opportunity and the single European currency can potentially offer this opportunity.''

Opening of Ledra Street crossing

We have the opportunity of opening the gate to the future by restoring a pathway of the past.
It is a pathway that crosses through the hearts and childhood memories of all of those of us that are over our forties. And it is a pathway that we have an obligation to surrender to the younger generations of our country, a pathway of communication through the common denominator of business and economic growth, which will speedily lead to the restoration of the built environment of the area and to the bonding of economic and social contacts between the two communities.
It should of course be stressed that the opening of the Ledra street crossing should not be the end of the ladder. Rather it is a highly symbolic and at the same time very substantial step towards bringing together and revitalising not just the common capital of all the Cypriots but also the whole of Cyprus itself.
As such it should be treated both as an end in itself, as well as a vehicle of expediting the ultimate aim of uniting our country.
